1. If my parents completed this same solid waste project, I think their inventories would contain a lot more throughputs than mine did. My parents tend to be decently conscious of their impact on the environment, but I am still regarded in the family as the "tree-hugger." That being said, they are less likely to ponder about the amount of throughputs they use (ex. they still use plastic water bottles despite my slightly-sarcastic, slightly-truthful telling that they are killing birds). Yeah, they would definitely have more plastic in their swag bags. When asked their opinion on what they believed their swag bags would be, they did not particularly deny that they would have more plentiful swag bags, although they seemed to not focus on that point of discussion too much. They admitted to obviously using more plastic than me in the form of water bottles, but they did point out that I tend to use more Ziploc bags (for my daily chocolate muffin) than they do. My parents pointed out that they would obviously have more store receipts, as they pay for everything in the house. They also get more mail than me, having to pay bills and all. Overall, I observed that the main difference causing the discrepancies we might find between our swag bags is the fact that they are adults and I am not - being an adult seems to use more throughputs. 2. During the course of the experiment, I tried to not change my consumption habits. That being said, the thought that I would inevitably have to put certain pieces of garbage into the swag bag did make me less desirous of packaged foods. The main hassle in the experiment was that I had to carry the trash until I was able to place it into my swag bag; because I decided not to bring my swag bag to school, this meant that any food that I ate at school would need to have its package kept in my backpack until I got home. But I tried to keep my consumption relatively normal, so as to have an accurate depiction of my overall use of throughputs. I value valid experiments, so I attempted to have a legitimate one with the swag bag. I believe I did a thorough job at monitoring my throughputs and not deviating from my normal consumption habits.
